When I build a project and launch it the generated terrain has no mountains, wtf? It works in the editor. I tried a new clean project with honey hex framework and same thing. Is this happening to anyone else?

As you can see your world in build have "lakes" I assume that you have different terrain definition for those two places. Either you have no access to streaming assets in one fo those places and it fall back to default terrain definition or they are simply different.
File you are intrested in is: HoneyFramework.MHTerrain.xml
My guess is that you have removed this file from streaming assets in your project (thats why you get default terrain definition which sits in the HoneyFramework directory, while before you have made some changes which endup in your build and because new build does not override this file(because it was deleted or new project simply does not have it yet) it silently sits in the streaming assets there.
Note that editor will place the file there if you start making any changes in terrain editor.

That was with a clean project with honeryframework, nothing changed, including the terrain definitions. As you can see in the build there are no mountains, because they look like they have been inverted. I made another example, where all I changed was the GeneratorMode to Perlin with a seed value of 444 to be able to show the exact same terrain from the editor and a build. I double checked that streaming assets had been generated and the MHTerrain file was there and the associated maps for the mountain terrain.

Hey! I'm not sure what is the issue when you produced an exe file. When I run your exe I get your issue. But I siply opened your project in Unity. Then: Build Settings -> Build -> Select Folder Now I have created folder instead of creating exe file directly in the project as you did. so for example: New Folder -> "BUILD" -> enter this new folder -> File name: "test2.exe" -> Save when I run this file I had no problems with the world. I would assume that the problem you had was a confusion of the unity when you spawned build directly within project root directory. I hope this helps

I tried that and it's still happening for me. What version of Unity are you using?
Scratch-that, I figured it out. The mountain_h texture import settings were set to advanced. I changed it to a normal texture like all the others and then it works after building it. I never touch these settings before, so you might want to double check your package on the unity store.

Hmm I never heard this could be a problem. We are using Unity 5.1.1 but I'm not sure which version exactly was used to create package.

Just as an update.. I saw this when building an .exe as well - so it appears the texture in the default project is incorrectly set.
